Refresh Your Bedroom this Spring

Refresh Your Bedroom this Spring
Spring is approaching quickly! This is great time to refresh your bedroom décor and give your personal space an all new look. Changes like repainting, redecorating and putting up wall art can make your bedroom the kind of place where you’ll enjoy spending more time.

Change Paint Colors

Get started by painting the walls of your bedroom with a refreshing new color. Light, bright, natural shades of green, blue and lavender are perfect for welcoming in the spring weather. In fact, Benjamin Moore makes several shades of spring-inspired colors that are elegant and graceful, perfect for a bedroom.
  • Shades of Spring. This delicious shade of green conveys all the energy and potential of a pleasant spring morning. Think: avocados and limes, lightened by heavy cream. To get the right effect, recommend combining Shades of Spring with white or barely off-white trim.
  • Spring Violet. A little bit gray and a bit more lavender, Spring Violet is the perfect color for a child’s bedroom. Spring Violet also goes well in bedrooms decorated in shabby chic styles. Combine Spring Violet with shades of white, gray or silver trim.
  • Warm Springs. This soft shade of blue green is reminiscent of robin eggs. We recommend combining warm springs with cream trim.

Update the Bedding

Getting a new bedspread is an efficient way to make an instant update to your bedroom. While you’re at it, decorate your bed with new pillows in a variety of accent colors. If possible, choose pillows that help tie your bedspread together with the new color of your walls.

Lighten and Brighten

Bringing more light into your bedroom will make it look clean and inviting when the redecorating is done.
  • Buy mirrors. Mirrors bounce light around the room, and can be especially helpful in small spaces. A well-placed mirror can help obscure dark corners and visually push back walls.
  • Use lamps. Buy several mini lamps. Place lamps on surfaces like the dresser, nightstands and cabinets.
  • Change your curtains. Your home’s curtains affect the amount of light that comes in through your bedroom windows. Take down dark curtains and replace them with light cotton curtains that flutter in the breeze.
Put Up Wall Art

Put Up Wall Art

Now that you’ve painted your walls, replaced your bedspread and increased the light in the room, this is the perfect opportunity to put up some new wall art. Wall art can get expensive. If you’re looking for affordable options, try printing a favorite photograph onto a stretched canvas, and leave off the frame.

Store Items Creatively

Clutter can make your bedroom seem small and cramped. Find creative ways to get rid of the clutter in your room by purchasing furniture that includes built-in storage space.

Air Out and Refresh

After a long winter, the air in your bedroom might be a little bit stuffy and stale. As a finishing touch, freshen the air in your room using scented candles, potpourri and a vase of fresh flowers. Open the windows as soon as the weather outside is warm enough to let the fresh air into your home.
