Furniture Styles
Rustic
A great choice for furniture as it gives the image of hand built cabins in the woods and down home style farmhouses. It’s cozy, warm and comfortable. Rustic tends to be rough wood or stone, large solid pieces and a bit of a vintage feel. Typically done in rich dark colors that go with the season. It’s both casual and refined, with an organic and lifelike style. You can contrast the heavy style of furniture with soft lighting and decorations.
Contemporary
This is a fluid design style, as the point is to exist in the current moment. It’s not about following design rules as much as trends. Current contemporary can mean geometric form and funky patterns combined with open space and urban street signs. Abstract with a focus on architectural form and a monochromatic color palette. It’s a bold statement making style that should be accented with edgy and artistic pieces that go with the times.
Traditional
Somewhat old school, but still very common. This harkens back to the old English and French furniture styles from the 18th and 19th century. It boasts warm and inviting spaces, rich dark wood tones, opulent style fabrics and durable textures. It’s all soft edges and clean lines, with fancy detail work and subtle neutral color tones.
Casual
Casual’s focus is always comfort. Picture plush cushions, lots of seating options, soft and relaxing features. Casual embodies a place to hang out with friends and family. Expect recliners, cup holders, storage areas for games and books. Casual furniture style is made to be lived in. It’s nothing so bold and edgy that it goes out of style, having more of a timeless nature. There’s a lot of neutral tones with an occasional pop of color.
