A Checklist For Spring Cleaning

So it’s spring again! The birds are chirping. The sun is shining. Grass is growing. And homeowners everywhere are slaving away, cleaning their homes. We wish we could help…we really do. That’s why we’re offering this check list of all spring cleaning items to be completed.
Kitchen
- Deodorize and clean out the garbage can.
- Degrease the sticky parts of the kitchen, including the top of your cabinets, microwave and the bottom of the cabinets just above the stove.
- Clean cabinet exteriors.
- Clean the oven and stove top.
- Defrost your freezer.
- Clean out the refrigerator, removing all foods and cleaning the shelves.
- Clean light fixtures with grease remover.
- Wash the walls, focusing on areas near the ceiling.
- Clean the refrigerator coils and vacuum beneath the refrigerator.
- Clean the grout between the countertop and floor tiles. Apply a poultice to any stains.
- Remove old expired foods from the pantry. Clean pantry shelves.
- Remove dishes from cabinets. Reorganize dishes and clean cabinet shelves.
- Clean the inside of the microwave.
- Clean toaster crumbs.
- Wash the kettle.
Bedrooms
- Dust and vacuum under the beds.
- Clean the mirrors.
- Clean all light fixtures.
- Scrub down the walls.
- Clean the ceiling fan blades.
- Organize any clutter under the bed.
- Dust all shelves and items on those shelves.
- Clean out nightstand drawers.
- Launder the comforter and blankets.
- Clean out the closets. Organize and vacuum the closet interiors.
- Spot treat any carpeting stains.
Living Room
- Scrub the walls.
- Clean all curtains and sheers.
- Launder pillows on the couch.
- Move the couch and all chairs, and clean underneath all of them.
- Clean ceiling fan wiper blades.
- Have your fireplace cleaned.
- Wash all windows and glass patio doors.
- Clean the blades of any blinds.
- Dust recessed lighting fixtures.
- Dust the crown molding and skylights.
- Vacuum on top of the sofa and other chairs.
- Clean the computer screen and television screen, and clean behind both items.
- Vacuum around all bunches of cords and behind all book shelves, sofas and chairs.
- Spot treat any carpeting stains.
Bathroom
- Clean the mirrors.
- Clean and stain treat the grout.
- Reseal the grout.
- Clean the shower curtain.
- Empty all garbage cans.
- Wash the mirrors.
- Clean the walls.
- Wash any blinds or curtains.
- Clean the vent register.
- Treat any mildew.
- Remove extra items from the drawers and medicine cabinets. Clean the interior of both and then replace the items you wish to keep.
Front and Back Yard
- Put away gardening tools.
- Clean the shed.
- Sweep the patio and path. Rake the lawn.
- Clean and dust patio furniture.
- Empty out the firepit.
Dining Room
- Clean the floors.
- Clean the ceiling fan blades.
- Wash the walls.
- Vacuum or wash under the table. Move all chairs during this process.
- Wash the windows.
- Clean the dishes cabinets or hutch and organize.
Laundry Room
- Empty and wash the lint traps.
- Wash the floors.
- Clean the exterior of your washing machine and dryer.
- Have the carpeting professionally cleaned.
- Wash the walls.
- Clean the curtains.
- Clean the fan blades.
- Wash the exterior cabinet doors.
- Wash and organize the cabinet interiors.
